Eastern District of North Carolina: claim objections are part of the base fee
E.D.N.C., Local Rule 2016-1(a)(2) (Local Rules effective 15 October 2026): "The standard base fee includes the basic services reasonably necessary to represent the debtor properly before the bankruptcy court," and the list includes "(N) objection to claim". The Administrative Guide sets the standard base fee at $6,500 in cases filed on and after 1 January 2020. Local rules, Administrative Guide.
Chapter 13 plan terms, “Claim”: "Absent a sustained objection to claim, the total amount listed by a creditor as being owed on its timely filed proof of claim shall control over any amount listed by the debtor in this plan." Confirmation does not cut off the right to object (Local Form 113A, § 7.3). Read the plan terms, the plan form.
No local rule, general order or published trustee procedure sets a deadline for objecting to claims (no Local Rule 3007-1; read 22 October 2026). A judge may set one in a case.
What Sharp Artisan gives you for it
- every proof of claim read against your schedules and the Bankruptcy Rules, with the page each flag comes from;
- each claim set against the amount you scheduled, since the proof of claim controls over the plan unless an objection is sustained;
- debts you scheduled that no one has claimed, for the 30-day window to file for them (FRBP 3004);
- your action on each claim in one memo you can print.
